The Travis Ranch Colorguard finished their year by placing 4th at the District’s Exhibition Show, on Wednesday April 18th at Huntington Beach High School. The inspired performance left them just .45 points out of 3rd.

Throughout the school year, this team of 20 6-8th grade girls performed to the best of their abilities to hopefully end up at the season championships. During the week of championships, these dedicated girls practiced every Tuesday and Thursday to prepare them to perform along with all of other high school and middle school guards in the district. All went well, with no drops during the show, a request made by coach Justin Guiu during a pre performance pep talk.
“The more time we spend together, the happier we’ll be! DON’T DROP!”
The team started training in January, ending their season in April. During championships, they compete against six other teams, including Bernardo Yorba MS, Canyon Hills MS, Miller MS, Gage MS, Alvarado Intermediate, and Los Coyotes Color Guard.

Seventh grader Riley Schnakenberg had nothing but positive emotions as she reflected on the successful season and the comradery that transpired amongst the girls.

“I felt proud of the girls this season because we have come a long way, they have all learned physical and teamwork skills, and no matter what our score or place was, we did great and tried our best.”

A sentiment that this group hopes to continue to improve upon next year as they hope to return 16 members from this years squad.
