Travis Ranch is currently holding its annual three on three basketball tournament where sixth, seventh, and eighth graders compete against each other for the school championship. The teams consist of three people and an optional substitute to compete against each other. Each team is able to draft their own teammates to create an unstoppable team. Mr. Shay and Mrs.Buckley, the directors of operations, encourage students to engage in formal three on three basketball games and to try their best. They had organized this event after seeing how much the students enjoyed competitive basketball during first and second lunch.

Mr. Shay says his favorite part of the basketball tournament is, “Watching the kids get an opportunity to play and compete against each and have fun”.

This tournament makes friends become even close due to all the collaboration and teamwork that is put in each of the the teams.

The other director of operations, Mrs. Buckley enjoys the growth that the students show from year to year. “I love how the level of competition increases every year for each grade, especially how the 6th graders are very skilled and athletic.”

Many 6th graders definitely should not be underestimated as they are holding their own and showing just how much skill they have. Sixth grader Jaden Keiroff is one of the many talented youngsters, “ I enjoy the competitiveness, and crossing people up”.

This event has even proved to some students that they were even better at basketball than they had previously thought and has shown student athletes there is more to teamwork and cooperation with each other.
