The Roe v. Wade Leak: Why Are Rights Being Taken Away?

The Roe v. Wade leak discussion recently has made women and people believe that abortion rights will be taken away.

The Roe v. Wade leak is a new discussion currently ongoing in court about whether or not abortion should be legalized. Roe v. Wade is a landmark Supreme court decision that legalized abortion access in the US. Roe v. Wade has always been about protecting the life and health of the mother.

During the first trimester, women were given the right to abort and there was no negotiating if she was allowed to or not. In the second trimester, states are allowed regulations to protect women’s health but by the third trimester, states are allowed to ban abortion as long as exceptions are made to keep the mother alive and well. Already certain states are certain or likely to ban abortion without Roe. States Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and lastly Wyoming are certain to ban abortion. Florida, Indiana, Montana, and Nebraska are likely to ban abortion. All these states that are listed are the states that will ban abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned. At the moment, the supreme court has confirmed that the leak says that the text is not final. A final decision is not expected to be issued until June or early July.

If Roe v. Wade is overturned, the only thing that would be banned would be SAFE abortions. There would still be other ways to have an abortion whether it’s done unsafely or with medication, and women will still find a way to have an abortion (due to whatever reasons they may choose to have one). The only difference is that their lives would be put in more danger.

Women don’t use abortion as a way to avoid having a child; some women need to have an abortion for medical reasons, their financial state, or due to being victims of SA. If abortion is banned in a state and a woman needs one, she would have to fly to a state where abortion is legal but some women don’t have that privilege.

Abortion is a serious and controversial topic. Women’s rights should NOT be controversial. They are human just like everyone else. The Roe v. Wade leak is something that shouldn’t even be considered to happen.
